The Night of Terror: 17 Years Later
The horrifying night of 2008 remains vivid in public memory. Ten terrorists from Pakistan’s Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorized Mumbai. The attackers targeted crowded places across the city. They struck the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and Oberoi Trident. Other targets included Nariman House, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, and Leopold Cafe. Gunfire and explosions continued for a relentless 60 hours. This shook the entire nation profoundly. The attacks claimed 166 lives, including 18 brave security personnel. Moreover, over 300 people suffered injuries. Mumbai faced this crisis with great strength and courage.
Pakistan’s Role Was Clear: Prakash Javadekar
BJP leader Prakash Javadekar shared his thoughts on the 26/11 anniversary. He stated that no Indian can forget the barbaric terror assault. “17 years have passed,” he said. He added that hundreds died and police officers were martyred. He felt this showed the high level of terrorism then. He clearly called it a strategy by Pakistan. Javadekar pointed out that Kasab himself confessed his Pakistani origin. This was proven in court, he said. “Therefore, Pakistan’s involvement was very clear,” he asserted. He stressed the need to strengthen the fight against terrorism.
Concern Over Recent Security Challenges
He also voiced concern regarding the recent blast in Delhi. “The Delhi blast is a serious matter,” he remarked. He expressed thanks that over 2500 kg of explosives were already seized. Many drone attacks and major conspiracies have been foiled, he noted. He asked people to salute the security forces and agencies. He also praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership. They are all fighting terrorism on the front lines, he mentioned. He recalled that G20 nations agreed to stop terror funding networks. Joint action is essential for this, he concluded. The world agrees on this important step.
A United Message from the Nation
On the anniversary of 26/11, citizens and leaders showed unity. They stood together against terrorism once again. Tributes poured in for the martyrs everywhere. This included Mumbai streets and social media platforms.
